Finding Stoats Farm Campsite

1. Crossing the Solent.

The most direct route to the campsite is from Lymington to Yarmouth but there are routes from Portsmouth, Southsea and Southampton. All are best booked in the summer. Click on their logos beneath the map to go to their web sites.

Lymington to Yarmouth
(Crossing time about 40 minutes)
The bus to Totland leaves from the Wighlink ferry terminal.Take a number 7 to the roundabout in Totland village.There are no direct buses to the Stoats Farm site but, if you give us advance notice, we can arrange for a taxi to meet you and take you to the site.If you decide to walk from the Totland bus stop, take Weston Road at the Totland roundabout and go to the end of the road by the school. Turn left and walk up York Road to just before the Catholic church. Turn right into Weston Lane and walk for about 500 yards. The Campsite is on the left.
Portsmouth to Fishbourne
(Crossing time about 55 minutes)
Leave the ferry terminal and walk up Fishbourne Lane to the main Ryde Newport road.
Cross at the traffic light to the bus stop.Take a number 1 or 8 bus to Newport bus station. The journey takes about 35 mintues.Take a 7 to the War Memorial roundabout in Totland village. Portsmouth to Ryde
(Crossing time about 20 minutes)
You can walk or take the Islandline train to the bottom of the pier from where buses leave.
Take a number 9 bus to Newport and and change to a number 7 to Totland.
The journey to Newport takes about 35 minutes and to Totland about 45 minutes.There are no direct buses to the Stoat’s Farm site but, if you give us advance notice, we can arrange for a taxi to meet you and take you to the site.If you decide to walk from the Totland bus stop, take Weston Road at the Totland roundabout and go to the end of the road by the school. Turn left and walk up York Road to just before the Catholic church. Turn right into Weston Lane and walk for about 500 yards. The Campsite is on the left.

Note: The Island has many thousands of visitors driving on unfamiliar roads all year round. Therefore, speed limits are sometimes lower than might be expected on the mainland (or England / the north island). There are rigorous speed checks from time to time in various areas to help to keep the roads as safe as possible. You’ll be happier and safer if you stick to the limits.

Lymington to Yarmouth
(Crossing time about 40 minutes)
On leaving the ferry terminal take the second exit on the roundabout by the quay turning right and following signs for Totland and Alum Bay.
When you reach Totland village, at the war memorial roundabout, take the first exit into Weston Road passing the Broadway Garage. Watch for the speed bumps in the road. At the end of the road turn left at the T junction by the school into York Road.
Just before the Catholic church turn right into Weston Lane.
Stoats Farm is 500 yards along on the left.
Portsmouth to Fishbourne
(Crossing time about 55 minutes)
Leave the ferry terminal and turn right into Fishbourne Lane.
At the traffic lights at the top of the lane turn right onto the A3054 signed Newport.
When you have passed the Medina Centre on your right and two service stations (one each side of the road) watch for a filter off to the right signed Cowes and Yarmouth.
By the Isle of Wight College take the first exit on the roundabout signed Yarmouth.
Pass through Shalfleet village and on arrival at Yarmouth take the first exit on the roundabout by the quay following signs for Totland and Alum Bay.

Southampton to East Cowes
(Crossing time about 60 minutes)
Pick up the bus from the outsode the Town Hall which is about two minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
Take a number 5 bus into Newport bus station. The journey takes about 20 minutes.
From Newport take a 7  to Totland. The journey takes about 45 minutes.
There are no direct buses to the Stoat’s Farm site but, if you give us advance notice, we can arrange for a taxi to meet you and take you to the site.

Southampton to West Cowes
(Crossing time about 25 minutes)
The bus leaves from outside the ferry terminal.
Take a 1, 91 or 92 bus into Newport bus station. The journey takes about 20 minutes.
From Newport take a 7  bus to Totland. The journey takes about 45 minutes.
There are no direct buses to the Stoat’s Farm site but, if you give us advance notice, we can arrange for a taxi to meet you and take you to the site.

Southampton to East Cowes
(Crossing time about 60 minutes)
The journey from East Cowes should take between 50 minutes and one hour depending on traffic conditions.
Follow the roads out of East Cowes to Newport and take the A3021 which passes Osbourne House and goes through Whippingham.
At the ‘Racecourse’ roundabout take the second exit on to the A3054 signed to Newport.
When you have passed the Medina Centre on your right and two petrol stations (one each side of the road) watch for a filter off to the right, staying on the A3054, signed Cowes and Yarmouth.

(Crossing time about 25 minutes)
Southampton to West Cowes is a pedestrian only crossing on their Red Jet service.

Go across the footbridge to the bus station.
Take the 9 bus. This bus takes about 35 minutes to Newport.
