About Us

Stoats Farm, the Isle of Wight Campsite run with a personal touch

“The Stoats Farm” name dates back to 1583 and the current farmhouse was built in 1600. The name derives from the breeding of stoats for local farmers. They were used to protect their hay and corn ricks by catching the rats which threatened them. Run under the personal supervision of its owners, David and Lynne Leonard, with their  Dog, Alfie Blue, Stoats Farm is a small and very friendly Isle of Wight Campsite with a happy relaxed atmosphere. The site is nestled in a fold at the foot of the Tennyson Downs close to the home of Lord Tennyson. It enjoys lovely views across open farmland, with the wonderful vista of Tennyson Downs, yet is also close to local amenities and the local country pub is directly across the road. The location makes Stoats Farm an ideal base for enjoying the walking, cycling and touring for which the West Wight is famous. The Isle of Wight is perfect for holidays with all the family and we are proud that many of our visitors return to us year after year. We have plenty of accommodation for tents, caravans and camper vans and the campsite offers all of the facilities expected by today’s experienced campers. The season runs from the 1st of April to the 31st of October.
